Cable is Nathan Dayspring Askani’son Summers, time-traveling son of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor (a clone of Jean Grey). Cable, knowing what the future could be, is trying to bring about a better world. However, following the destruction of Providence and his apparent death in an explosion, Cable's future is currently up in the air.
Deadpool is Wade Wilson ('the merc with a mouth'), a mercenary for hire. Deadpool, although sometimes unwittingly, is helping to further Cable's plans.
